Poppy and Simon Lorenna and some fish

Poppy and Simon are here for a holiday, they timed the weather well although it has been a bit breezy we have had blue skies and the temperature reached 19 C today and there ismore of that heading our way for afew days. Poppy built the boys a farm in the garden.

Simon has been doing some paddling at Vilarrube

and some kayaking....

and cuddling at club nautico.

Jose managed to find some fish, they just jumped out of the water and onto his surf ski and keeled over...what a surprise that was.

Sam, Mel and Lorenna have arrived from their sojourn in blighty - Lorenna looking cuter than ever

Capt'n Sam played Swallows and Amazons with bosun Ian, we braved terrible squalls and blizzards, suffered unimaginably in the doldrums and outmanouvered many a monster before returning safely to shore on the other side of the pontoon phew there will be red sails in the sunset on another day.

San Andreas

We had a bit of a look round the cliffs and a walk down to San Andreas with friends recently, the cliffs are spectacular to say the least, not a good place to be on a foggy day but we had sun and a bit of a breeze.

A very obliging horse did some good posing for me

the children all marched through the village ahead of us so fast we were in and through to the otherside before we know what had happened. The church looked interesting I managed to grab a snap as I ran past - the children are somewhere in the pic in the distance hopefully next time we will manage to stop off and look inside.

breezy

They were right about the wind, more trees down, more interruptions to the electric on and off like a lighthouse at times today. Bits blown off buildings in Ferrol and huge waves again at sea but due to moderate tomorrow. At least it is mild as far as temperature goes at around 9C today.

wind and walking pics

Lots of rain for the last few days and more strong winds predicted over the next few days... again ah well we managed a bit of digging in the garden on Saturday and planted some rows of strawberries and some onion sets and prepared the ground for the first few potatoes. I have planed some kiwis and kiwinos hoping they will grow up over the fence round the hens coral and provide a wind break for the fruit trees further up the garden. We also put in a lilac near the house and a mixed scatering of hazel, ash and birch lower down the garden. next weekend we are looking for holly trees for the bottom to provide some shelter and berries.
We had a walk up at the mushroom picking place a few days ago, fresh shoots of bulbs peeking through and buds starting to break on trees, frogspawn, tadpoles and newts all gave the day a flavour of Spring.
Some lovely crystal clear springs provide high level meandering watermeadows

Some of the spawn was hit by the frost but underneath it was fine and there were plenty of tadpoles.
Tadpole hunting
Definitely a wellies place in the winter.

PS only joking about all the work Simon, no need to do any really but if you want to help out you are welcome too.

jobs for Simon :-)

Hi Simon just in case you are worried that you won't have enough to do when you arrive here are a few of the things we have planned for you.....first there is the tree house to finish we have two posts and a ladder made out of cut off trees - we need to build a triangular platform on top...
Then there are endless piles of branches to sort through separating the useful sticks from the leafy little bits There is a small forest full of undergrowth that needs cleaned up..
And these posts need to be dug up and the fence relocated across the top end of the field to keep the jabali (wild boar) out of the garden and a similar move at the bottom of the garden..There are a couple of rings needing axed into firewood...
Oh and a few more indoors needing the same treatment...
Do you think that is enough to keep you occupied ?
