Snowbird is back fighting for 1st place on the perch at night now, despite being half the size of the other hens she is like a Yorkshire terrier in that they always think they are huge dogs able to take on all comers. I hatched her kinder eggs for her a few days ago and after a brief sort through the opened eggs and a hunt for some chicks she decided she has done her job and is back eating properly and fighting with the other hens again. She has a very effective technique; by ducking low and pushing under the other hens she shuffles her way along the perch despite a barrage of pecks to her back and tail she usually gets as far as 2nd place, last night the leader was standing on top of her but she held her ground and would not give in.
